New Public Protector appointed

President Jacob Zuma has appointed Advocate Busisiwe Joyce Mkhwebane as the next Public Protector.

“President Zuma has in terms of section 193(4) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, 1996, and on the recommendation of the National Assembly, appointed Advocate Busisiwe Joyce Mkhwebane as the Public Protector of the Republic of South Africa for a period of seven years with effect from 15 October 2016,” the Presidency said on Thursday.

The President has thanked outgoing Public Protector Advocate Thulisile Madonsela for her services and wished Advocate Mkhwebane all the best in the execution of her new responsibilities.
