Intervate learnership programme will address skills shortage

Intervate, specialist provider of enterprise information management solutions, is investing in training graduates to address the skills shortage in the specialised software solutions sector.
Through aligning a group of cherry-picked graduates with strong mentors in Intervate's key business units, the 12 month initiative will see the interns not only gaining experience in specialised competency areas, but also being equipped with a set of soft skills that will ensure that they are well rounded individuals once they complete the programme.

Intervate has partnered with Microsoft, KnowledgeLake and Kofax to make the learnership programme possible. As partners in the programme they are each investing in providing the learners with training resources and certified training programmes. Each learner will be assigned relevant exams based on the delivery team to which they will be assigned. The overall objective is to prepare them for incorporation into Intervate's core delivery team.

Passion for technology

"We have had a number of successful learnership programmes over the years that have produced top performers in the sector," says the head of Intervate's imaging and capture department, Mpumi Nhlapo. "There is a lot of untapped talent out there and we searched hard for the best candidates to join our 2012 programme. The defining criteria was a passion for technology, a proven ability, willingness to learn and a strong work ethic. Ultimately people that can assimilate and adapt to the Intervate work hard play hard culture."
Intervate's learnerhsip programme aims to supports the company's grown challenges, while putting emphasis on building skills and investing in South Africa's IT talent.
