Shortlisted teams for CIMA Global Business Challenge 2015 announced

The South African teams are:

  • Team Charter Capital Advisory from CharterQuest;
  • Team Benoulli from the University of the Free State;
  • Team Espeon Consulting from the University of Pretoria; and
  • Team Fortitude Consulting from the University of Pretoria.

The teams will now compete in a national final on Wednesday, 20 May, with the winning team going on to represent South Africa against 25 other teams at the global final in Warsaw, Poland in August 2015.

Zahra Cassim, Head of South Africa, said: "On behalf of CIMA, I congratulate the shortlisted teams for their outstanding achievement at the first stage of the Global Business Challenge 2015. These students are a fine example of the young talent identified and nurtured through the Global Business Challenge. We are pleased to be giving them a unique opportunity to experience the world of business and to build their skills. We wish the competitors the best of luck at the national stage and look forward to welcoming the winning team at the prestige global final.

"A total of 178 entries were received from 14 participating universities and institutions of further learning in South Africa. This firmly entrenches the Global Business Challenge as the most sought after business competition among undergraduate business and accounting students," concluded Cassim.

The CIMA Global Business Challenge is a business competition for undergraduates around the world, designed to showcase talent in business management and identify young business leaders of the future. Competing teams are asked to put their business skills to the test by analysing and solving a real-life corporate case study.

Other countries participating in the CIMA Global Business Challenge are Australia, Bangladesh, China, Ghana, GCC, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Malaysia, Myanmar, Nepal, New Zealand, Pakistan, Nigeria, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Thailand, the United Kingdom, Vietnam and Zambia.
