Word Warriors creative writing competition is open for entry

READ's 2018 Word Warrior Competition is officially open for entry. Budding writers between the ages of nine and 16 are required to create a fun, fact-finding but fictional story incorporating a colourful character, Detective WW Inkomba. ('Inkomba' means 'clue' in Zulu and Xhosa).

The entry form is filled with tips and questions aimed at getting those creative juices flowing. The best work be showcased on the READ website; the winner will receive a R1000 cash prize, and their school will receive R5000’s worth of books.

Last year’s Word Warrior Competition, under the theme of ‘My Treasure’ drew a host of interesting entries and READ has announced that the READ Word Warrior of 2017 is Lolo Legoabe from Boskop Primary School.
