Motor sales increase 2.8% year on year in November

Measured in nominal terms (current prices), motor trade sales increased 2.8% year on year in November, Stats SA data showed on Thursday.

The largest positive annual growth rates were recorded for sales of accessories (10.7%), workshop income (10.7%) and new vehicle sales (7.1%).

Seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased 1.7% in November 2015 compared with October 2015. This followed month-on-month changes of -1.4% in October 2015 and 2.2% in September 2015.

In the three months ended November 2015, seasonally adjusted motor trade sales increased 0.2% compared with the previous three months.

Motor trade sales decreased 0.4% in the three months ended November 2015 compared with the three months ended November 2014. The main contributor to this decrease was fuel sales (-9.1% and contributing -2.3 percentage points).
