This year the award for Best Dealer in the major dealer category was awarded to Bates Port Shepstone, in the medium dealer category to Brokensha's Estcourt and in the small dealer category the winner was Sydfred Motors in Matatiele.

According to Brian Olson, GMSA vice president of Sales, Service and Marketing, the best performing dealers are rewarded every year for achieving or exceeding sales targets and for accomplishing 100% compliance in all areas of the business that matter to customers. "They are rated on customer experience, service excellence, standard and facilities and on going the extra mile," explained Olson.

The GMSA Honours programme has been developed around four cornerstones, namely Customer Enthusiasm, Sales Performance (vehicles and Parts), Financial Performance. In addition, the programme is designed to focus on key GMSA business priorities.

The company also has a dedicated dealer development programme that focuses on training and development of dealer sales and technical staff. "We strive to empower our dealers in order to attain a high level of customer service," said Olson.

General Motors has 133 dealers across the country selling Chevrolet, Opel and Isuzu vehicles. Olson said 27 dealers had been nominated for the Dealer Honours Awards. "We are proud of their performance and we believe that excellence should be recognized. These winners certainly are the best of the best," Olson added.

This year the ceremony was held in the plant where the Isuzu KB, Chevrolet Utility and Chevrolet Spark are proudly built in South Africa.
