Balkanology goes to Joburg

South Africa's Balkanology parties, having just finished a tour of Cape Town, are due to hit Joburg on 14 November 2009 at the 44 Stanley complex in Milpark. The parties showcase exciting and energetic sound: a blend of Eastern European and Mediterranean gypsy music with house, electronica, hip-hop and dub.
Balkanology goes to Joburg

South Africa's Balkanology parties were first launched in June 2006 by event director Ma'or Harris alongside a highly talented group of collaborators.

After five parties in Cape Town, with numbers growing from 500 at the first to 2500 at the sixth, Balkanology has created a cult following and a powerful brand synonymous with zest, energy and a unique, theatrical musical experience.

Pigs playing trumpets

For their first official Joburg party, Balkanology is teaming up with JHBLive.com - the perfect choice of partner considering the impact the company has had in the city with their events over the years.

Expect DJs, pigs, trumpets, pigs playing trumpets, farmers and farmers riding on the back of pigs playing trumpets. There will, naturally, be bales of hay to steal for a gypsy bed. And all of this under the olive trees of 44 Stanley.

When: 14 November, 2009 from 9pm
Where: 44 Stanley Avenue, Milpark (formerly Roka, Color Bar)
Tickets: R80 at the door or from www.webtickets.co.za
