What's on on Kaelo - Stories of Hope this December

This week, Kaelo - Stories of Hope visits Soweto, Johannesburg where, with the support of the MTN SA Foundation, the Life College programme is giving hope to the students of Letsibogo Girl's High School by shifting mindsets and changing attitudes. Next Kaelo - Stories of Hope discovers how Transnet's innovative theatre trucks bring raw, theatrical talent to rural communities around South Africa. In the third story we see how the National Development Agency has provided skills and training to a group of previously unemployed factory workers. With this training, the members of uJima Bakwena Shoe Co operative have become successful entrepreneurs, better able to provide for their families' needs.

In the first story we meet Johannes Munakisi, an art teacher from Diepsloot Combined School. Watch how Johannes' teaching skills and creativity have flourished, thanks to the Imbali Visual Literacy which is supported by the MTN SA Foundation. It is estimated that only 15% of South African university students graduate and only 20% of these graduates find jobs.* Meet the students from the South African Graduate Development Association, supported by Absa, who have found a new direction in their lives thanks to the academic support provided by the association. In the last story Kaelo - Stories of Hope travels to the Kruger National Park to visit the Skukuza Craft Community Co operative which is supported by the Old Mutual Legends Programme. Meet Kenias Sambo, a local crafter whose crafting business has been transformed by the business skills he has learnt through the project.
