The day will be hosted by Cape Town's own ginger-beard man, Paul Snodgrass (Dickies Dirt Track) and former Rolling Stone man Anton Marshall (Main Stage and Lifestyle Area), while some of Cape Town's finest 'billy acts, fringe entertainers, rebels and bombshells will be joining the party.
Mean Black Mamba, Lonesome Dave Ferguson and Them Tornados are regular names at the top of most live music bills in the city. Between Mamba's foot-stomping country gospel, pure Tornado rockabilly and harp-based Ferguson grooves, there are very few venues and festivals that have not discovered the crowd-pleasing genius of these musicians.
The Ratrod Cats and The Flaming De Villes bring style and grittiness to the mix, respectively. While the Ratrods live the lifestyle of bowling, classic cars and whiskey, the De Villes bring a dirty electric edge to their blues-infused aural damage.
Long Time Citizen, The Dixie Pricks and Oh, Mercy! represent the countrybilly element of Dusty Rebels. While the Citizens offer modernistic takes on the likes of Cash, cool and "Crabman", Jimmy Duncan and the Pricks' brand of country usually leave no sense of social decorum intact. Meanwhile, the combo of Andy Lund and Emma du Preez as Oh, Mercy! forms an acoustic duo drowned in the finest traditions of Nashville country.
