MasterChef Australia judges to appear at Appetite Fest

The Appetite Fest will be held at Time Square's Sun Arena in Menlyn Maine, Tshwane from 18-19 August 2018. Local and international food heroes, frontline vineyards, cheesemakers, restaurants, and producers will showcase some of the best culinary offerings in the country.

A range of exhibitors, craft brewers, artisan producers, premium drink brands, and award-winning wineries will offer a bounty of the country’s finest foods and drinks to test-taste and purchase.

Celebrity chefs

International and local celebrity chefs will show off their culinary prowess in food theatres, interactive question and answer sessions, and meet and greets at book signings, master classes, and exclusive chef’s tables. The cast of culinary artists confirmed to appear at the Appetite Fest include Gary Mehigan, George Calombaris, and Matt Preston of MasterChef Australia fame; Vineet Bhatia, a Michelin Star Chef from the United Kingdom; as well as top local chefs Siba, Sarah Graham, Nti; J’ Something, Bertus Basson, Peter Tempelhoff, Chris Papayannes, Eric Bulpitt, Katlego Mlambo, Nathan Jacobs, and Stephanie Ceronio.

Family-friendly

The event is expected to be a family-friendly experience for food and fun-loving South Africans of all ages. The outdoor areas will include themed and dedicated zones with entertainment and experiences for everyone. The offerings will include craft gin, champagne, pamper sessions, sushi, braai, bikes, beer, and Brannas while watching the rugby match between the Springboks and Argentina. Children will be safe and entertained in the access controlled and secure Kids Own zone with professional and caring childminders. Activities include jumping castles, jungle gyms, ball pit, face painting, children’s cooking theatre, coordination games, and their very own kid’s food court. For the older crowd, there is the Magic Company.

Gourmet food trucks will serve up a diversity of exciting street food, while comedians, DJs, and bands will keep visitors entertained in a vibrant, authentically South African festival-style. On the bill to entertain the crowds are Barry Hilton, Bobby Van Jaarsveld, and Dan Nicholl; more announcements are to follow.
