Prince of Persia transcends the sands of time

After experiencing a surge of romantic comedies and drama on the big screen it was a pleasure to be entertained by a medieval tale that will undoubtedly transcend the sands of time.
From the team that brought the Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy to the big screen, Walt Disney Pictures and Jerry Bruckheimer bring you the epic-adventure movie adaptation of the Prince of Persia video-game.

I was halfway through my popcorn already before Prince of Persia finally started. I knew that this was a movie that many are dying to see; I could only imagine those counting down the days till its release. For those who have been waiting, Prince of Persia is almost here!

Set in medieval Persia, the film is based on the video-game that goes by the same title. The story follows an adventurous Prince, Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal) who reluctantly joins forces with a rival Princess, Tamina (Gemma Arterton) to stop an ancient dagger from landing in the hands of a dangerous dynasty with a hidden agenda. Together they need to safeguard the mysterious dagger which is capable of releasing the Sands of Time - a gift from the gods that can reverse time and allow its possessor to rule the world. But time is running out and the two race against the clock to fulfil an ancient calling.

I actually enjoyed the film despite not having much of an appetite for 'daggers that swagger' but the movie has a touch of light humour and won't leave you disappointed. I wasn't.

Prince of Persia releases tomorrow so avid gamers, leave your controls at home and take a seat because there's no controlling this!
