Bonj Mpanza, an award-winning and UCT School of Music-trained vocalist and music producer, and multi-instrumentalist Clement Carr, also a UCT School of Music graduate, have been working on their debut album since 2009. Joined by Ryan McArthur on bass and beats (Captain Stu, The Little Kings and Peachy Keen), and current UCT Jazz student he was the perfect choice to complete their live performance.

In 2010 TheCity had the opportunity to work with two-time Grammy Awar- winning American producer Ron Feemster (from Ne-Yo, Nelly and Mary J Blige fame, he also served as producer on Michael Jackson's posthumous album "Michael"). This opportunity was made possible when the producer visited South Africa during the FIFA World Cup. Feemster invited the TheCity to join him in an intimate workshop programme that included, amongst other artists, Chad Saaiman.

First single

2012 has seen them being endorsed by Hout Couture and performing live supporting Good Luck, Jack Parow, Tidal Waves and Soul Housing Project (Sakhile of Goldfish's project) amongst others, as well as having their first single, This Time, playlisted on KFM.
