IMC Conference Cape Town announces speaker topics

With all speaker topics confirmed, delegates now have a glimpse of what to expect at the Integrated Marketing Communication Conference taking place on 9 and 10 June at the Cape Town International Convention Centre. The focus will be on identifying the marketing pivotal points and using that information to create more efficient, holistic ways to improve the ability of conventional and digital marketing to influence and drive customer intent.

Speakers and their topics include:

David Moffatt | Hellocomputer | "Break. Make. Create. Some surprising benefits from a culture of hacking"

David will discuss how to incubate a creative culture in one's marketing efforts as evident in emerging technologies, neuroscience studies and behavioural economics. He will showcase how 'hacking' can unveil the magic that exists between technology, people and marketing opportunities.

Lani Carstens | John Brown Media SA | "Content Marketing: What's your story?"

Lani will unpack what all the fuss is about with the hottest buzzword in the media and marketing space: content marketing. She will explore how brands should be adopting a new sensibility in marketing themselves and look at how a deeper connection with customers through authentic storytelling can lead to commercial success.

Jonty Fisher | Bletchley Park | "Leading in Leaner Times: Getting closer to your customer"

South African consumers have never been under more pressure, and are making increasing trade-offs in brand purchases. So how do marketers win in this environment? Jonty's presentation will focus on better understanding customer decisions and brand experience by focusing on something bigger than product/service differentiation.

Melissa Attree | "Strengthening the online/offline marketing link"

As more digital information is published it becomes harder for brands to attract and retain attention. Melissa's presentation will focus on how digital curation and storytelling can amplify one's marketing reach in the offline/real world space by giving thought to the user journey, information discovery and curation.

Gary Leih | OFyt | "Cleaning up the Marketing Messaging Mess"

Gary Leih will talk about the "Marketing Messaging Mess" as he puts it - how we got into the mess in the first place and how to go about cleaning it up. He will examine the ingredients and application methods of a few cleanup products and will advise on a maintenance program to ensure that we don't get back into the same mess again.

Koo Govender | VWV Group | "Experiential Marketing"

Koo will present on how to captivate new customers and retain existing customers through compelling and memorable experiential marketing experiences within the fragmented consumer landscapes. She will explain how experiential marketing can complement and add value to the marketing mix by using practical case studies that VWV have executed.

Lwandile Qokweni | Carat SA | "Redefining Media"

In a world where consumers seek out content linked to their interests across different platforms, Lwandile will discuss whether traditional media models are still relevant in 2014 and beyond. He will take delegates through interesting new methods that are being developed every day to cater to this world and ensure that all marketing efforts are indeed leading us to the point of conversion.

Aidan Baigrie | Facebook | "Facebook, a roadmap for Africa"

Aidan will speak candidly about his new role, and share insights on Facebook's roadmap for Africa. He will explore Facebook's growing relevance for businesses in the region, how the platform can help drive personal marketing at scale, and how its unique insights bring consumers and marketers closer together.
