Industry leaders FNB and MWEB join Small Business Growth Conference speaker panel

Set to kick off on the 24th of March at the Cape Town International Convention Centre, the Small Business Growth Conference has been designed as a practical platform for small business owners to effectively maximise business opportunities and strengthen their operations.

Industry leaders from various sectors will present case studies and facilitate interactive discussions on building strong business strategies, identifying challenges and driving commerce solutions using four major business focuses, namely Financial Management, Product Development, Operations and Logistics and Promotion.

These industry leaders include:

  • Marcel Klaassen | Executive: Head of Growth at FNB

    Klaassen is an entrepreneurship enthusiast who is formally educated in finance and holds an MBA from the Gordon Institute of Business Science in Johannesburg. With several years' experience in small business finance and support, he is currently an executive at FNB Business Banking. He is passionate about the role that technology can play in driving insightful venture creation in South Africa and has done several talks on the state of entrepreneurship locally and abroad.


  • Paul Hobden | Head of Small Business at MWEB

    Hobden has been in the online space for well over a decade having worked both locally and internationally. He was instrumental in setting up the MWEB Entrepreneur Zone and continues the drive to bring small business owners compelling content and resources. His experience spans the range from start-ups through to large multi-nationals and beyond the online space in technology and travel.


  • Catherine Wijnberg | Founder and Director at Fetola

    Catherine Wijnberg is a successful entrepreneur and innovative strategic thinker in the field of small business growth and development. She is Director and Founder of Fetola - Business Growth professionals for Small and medium sized organisations that generate accelerated success of SMEs across South Africa. Her most recent initiative, the Graduate Asset Placement (GAP) Programme, seeks to place 24,000 unemployed graduates into internships in SMEs over the next three years, creating in the region of 8000 permanent jobs.


  • Rebecca Cronje | Founder of Cultivate Communications

    Rebecca founded Cultivate Communications in June 2013 after spotting a gap in the local PR market for a strategically-driven, integrated public relations offering that is rooted in traditional best practice but digitally nimble in nature. Rebecca previously spent seven years at one of SA's leading PR firms, Atmosphere Communications, as Head of Strategy. Through her work with The Branson Centre, she launched the successful Open For Business campaign.


  • Mike Joubert | CEO of The Brandsrock Group

    Mike is the Founder and CEO of The BrandsRock Group, a strategic marketing company specialising in brand strategy and creative brand solutions. They service a portfolio of blue chip clients including HarleyDavidson®, eBucks, Nando's and Puma to name a few. He has over 22 years' experience working as VP of Marketing at Levi Strauss and Co, EMEA; MD of Levi Strauss and Co. South Africa; MD of Diageo SA; strategic MD at Ogilvy & Mather RSTM and marketing development director for Computicket.


  • Precious Mvulane | Managing Director of GAD Consulting Services Inc

    Precious is the Managing Director of GAD Consulting Services Inc. - an auditing and accounting firm that provides its services to NPOs and SMEs. She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, Honours Degree and Diploma in Advance Auditing. She is a chartered accountant and registered auditor affiliated with SAICA and IRBA respectively. She believes developing SME business owner's to run and manage their businesses will lead to financial stability and contribute to the South African economy as a whole.


  • Leon Lategan | Founder of Conversion Camel

    Leon is a Conversion Analyst who assists companies by optimising their online presence including websites, mobile sites, email, etc. He consults with companies on how to increase the business they get from their online initiatives using these various platforms and getting the maximum output from them. His extensive knowledge in internet marketing comes from his previous position as MD of Independent Online and also being the former founder of Purple Cow Communications.


  • Kgomotso More | Principal Consultant at Change Tactics

    Kgomotso More is a Principal Consultant at Change Tactics (Pty) Ltd, a management consultancy specialising in assisting organisations to achieve their business goals through people-driven performance. He has more than 15 years of combined training, operations and project management experience, and is currently also responsible for managing Change Tactics' operational functions.
