Elizabeth Hurley, global ambassador of Estée Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign, is very passionate about breast cancer and has championed the cause with Estee Lauder for 17 years now. She recently visited South Africa in aid of raising funds for Estee Lauder's Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign in support of "Look Good Feel Better".
She made the point that: "Breast cancer effects both men and women. It's important to be aware of the dangers of developing breast cancer, as well as the importance of self-examination."
Ralf Degni, Vega's CEO, says: "Charity begins at home. It's for this reason that Vega has partnered with Sue Fox, CEO SA of Estee Lauder, to distribute informative bookmarks and the pink ribbons to all staff and students at our four campuses. At least one in every 29 South African women develops breast cancer and it's for this reason that we encourage all our staff and students to go for regular mammograms so that nobody becomes a statistic!"
Elizabeth Hurley has pertinent thoughts on breast cancer:
- Book a mammogram on a day that's significant to you - like a birthday. Sounds odd, but that way you won't forget.
- If you have a friend who can't afford a mammogram, get her one as a birthday or Christmas gift.
- There are passionate and talented people searching for a cure for breast cancer. It's a fact that more women are getting breast cancer, but fewer people are dying from it. In a way, we see that as a positive.
Breast Cancer Awareness has been a huge concern and involvement for Estee Lauder Companies for over 20 years now, initially developed and founded by Evelyn H. Lauder - Sr. Corporate Vice President, The Estee Lauder Companies Inc, and Founder and Chairman of The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The Estee Lauder Companies have been a proud partner of "Look Good... Feel Better" since its founding since 1989. Look Good... Feel Better changes the lives of woman with cancer by improving their self-image and appearance through self-help beauty sessions.
