The inaugural National Choral Music Achievement Awards (NACMA), hosted for the first time in the history of the choral music industry, took place at the Durban Christian Centre (The Jesus Dome) on 7 December 2012.
This spectacular night of celebration, filmed in partnership by Shoestring Productions, ECHO Events and the Madhatter, will be screened on SABC 1 in December 2012. World-class performances included those of Grammy Award winners, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, multi-award winner, Siphokazi and the Jaziel Brothers.
The aim of the awards is to celebrate and recognise the South African competitive talents and artistic expression in the choral music industry. Choral music role-players and stakeholders converged in Durban from all over the country to attend this historic and auspicious occasion.
NACMA Awards Co-Founder, Gcisa Mdlulwa, said: "The NACMA Awards are here to celebrate talent and excellence in the choral music of South Africa, and to showcase the rainbow of choral harmonies."
