Poker for Purpose has a really big heart

25 Nov 2009 12:32Submit a commentBizLike
Full House Events is showing just how big its heart is through its newly launched Poker for Purpose - poker events that raise money for the greater good.
Full House Events and their determined Poker Crew are looking forward to raising cash for worthy causes by simply doing what they do best - creating exciting poker events that are full of anticipation and the frisson of competition, and custom-made to ‘wow' both the novice and veteran poker player.

“The intention with Poker for Purpose is to support charities, or companies that support legitimate charities that would like to utilise the Full House Events product - at cost - to host fundraising events as an alternative to the usual golf day or rugby speaker type exercise,” says Greg de Beer from Full House Events.

Full House Events wants to push the concept by hosting approximately six such events during 2010, as well as an annual star-studded celebrity splash for charity. Add a few promotional events to the mix that include raffles and auctions to accumulate funds to donate to a chosen charity - and you'll see how committed Full House Events is to Poker for Purpose.

Recently, Full House Events supported an event in aid of Soweto Hospice. “Guests simply made a donation for a chip stack and then played sit-n-go's at Full House Events' tables while learning the art of poker, having fun and winning some random prizes. There are also an additional two events in the pipeline already for next year to benefit UNICEF,” de Beer adds.

Due to their strong working relationship with the Gauteng Gambling Board, Full House Events has received ‘special' approval to host these events subject to certain conditions. Historically the Gambling Board has been wary of past “charity” events where only a small fraction of the funds went to the charity with the rest going to the punters - not the way that Full House Events does business at all.

The way Poker for Purpose will operate simple: corporate clients will be able to buy tables for 8-10 guests and enjoy an event where they will get to enjoy the game. The costs (venue, staff, food etc.) of the event will be deducted and the balance will be donated to the legitimate charity along with any other funds that Full House Events can raise on the night through re-buys, raffles, auctions and so on. The idea is for the charity or company to drive the sales of the tables amongst their supporters and clients, and Full House Events will activate the event.

If you would like to get involved in sponsoring a poker event in support of charity or would like to purchase a table at a future charity event, please contact the team at Full House Events on .

Poker for Purpose... a really good deal.
