The Coca-Cola dome has been voted the best concert venue in the Leisure Options Best of Joburg Readers' Choice Awards for the eleventh consecutive year.
The annual awards which are based on votes received from the half a million readers of Johannesburg's Leisure Options newspaper, celebrate the limitless possibilities for leisure activity in the city.
Grant Medcalf, General Manager of the Coca-Cola dome says the dome's popularity is based on consumers' experience at events and consistent quality, made possible by the versatility of the venue and the professionalism of staff.
“We are truly proud of this achievement and recognise every team member for their contribution to our success. We also thank the people of Johannesburg for their continued, overwhelming support.”
The Coca-Cola dome was opened by former President Nelson Mandela in 1998 and has since become synonymous with appearances in South Africa by major international stars and performers such as Celine Dion, Lionel Richie, Elton John, Mary J Blige and Rod Stewart.
Concerts scheduled at the dome for the rest of the year include John Legend on 18 October, The Parlotones on 14 November and The Killers on 3 and 4 December.
The Coca-Cola dome is managed by Thebe Venue Management on behalf of its owners, the Sasol Pension Fund.
