Hailed as one of South Africa's most versatile special event venues, the Coca-Cola dome was voted Johannesburg's best concert venue for the tenth consecutive year in the Leisure Options Best of Johannesburg Readers' Choice Awards.

The awards, with some 150 categories, were made based on a record number of votes received from Johannesburg's weekly Leisure Options newspaper, published by the Caxton Group.
Grant Medcalf, Sales and Marketing Manager of the Coca-Cola dome says the award is particularly important in 2008 - the year in which the dome celebrates its tenth birthday.
“Ten out of ten reaffirms our popularity and the suitability of the venue for large concerts and events. For a decade now the people of Johannesburg have overwhelmingly supported us. We are, without a doubt, synonymous with the best concerts in our city, one of the largest metropoles in Africa.”
Some of the best international performers like the world's highest paid female singer, Celine Dion, the UK's greatest rock and roll star and pop legend, Sir Cliff Richard, Sir Elton John, Billy Joel and Irish pop and rock star Ronan Keating have enthused thousands of visitors at the dome.
Add to this performances by R&B legend Mary J Blige, Grammy Award winner Enrique Iglesias, best-selling Spanish singer of all times, Julio Iglesias and international singing sensation Michael Buble, and it is not difficult to see why more than 600 000 people visit the dome every year.
The Coca-Cola dome was officially opened by former South African State President Nelson Mandela, accompanied by a riveting once-off performance by international superstar Diana Ross, in 1998.
The dome, managed by the Thebe Venue Management, offers state of the art facilities, easy access and ample parking facilities, all of which contribute to world-class performances.
“We are honoured to have received this prestigious award and thank all our patrons for supporting the events,” says Medcalf.
