Sets, Drapes and Screens goes national

The newly formed company will be trading as Sets, Drapes and Screens (SDS) and will be an integral part of the group's service offering.

SDS will be responsible for manufacturing and installing standard and custom-made sets, screens and a wide variety of imported drapes for use at expo's, live events and corporate events.

According to Robyn D'Alessandro, national marketing manager of Gearhouse SA, the merge will be very beneficial for clients. “The client no longer has to bother with the logistics of touring a set and set builders - we can install duplicate sets using local crew with the assurance that we are delivering to the exact same standards.

"Now that the set company is part of the Gearhouse group, we not only have the opportunity to add a new product to our service offering but are also able to give input into the event aesthetic. We can sit down with the client and plan the event holistically with all the benefits of an integrated service.”

As part of the merge, Gearhouse is in the process of refurbishing the Cape Town Set workshops, ensuring that both branches have the same capacity and state-of-the-art equipment. “The two branches will have a common pricing structure, quotation format, stockholding and service delivery standards,” D'Alessandro explained.

The different branches of SDS will be managed by Pieter Joubert and Craig Pretorius in Johannesburg and Jacques Gunning and Burger Smith in Cape Town.

The new SDS team is extremely committed to servicing the group, its branches and the various requirements of the Gearhouse group's clients.

Pieter Joubert said, “The regional workshop in Cape Town improves our buying power and our ability to deliver a national service. The CTN branch will now stock a much larger variety of screens than was previously available in the Western Cape and we believe that this is taking us much further towards the total solution our clients demand of us.”
