South Africa's biggest consumer show is proud to host the masters of the felt in a Premier League showdown of ball-cracking proportions.
Stay out of the water on the closing weekend of the Rand Show, because there's a 100% chance of sharks... pool sharks that is, as the Gauteng Blackball Federation hosts the final showdown of the Blackball Premier League, starring South Africa's top 10 pool players.
From 10am on 26-27 April, the country's most impressive pool players will go head to head at the Rand Show, in a final event playoff to determine the ultimate king of the pool table. MEET THE POOL SHARKS
Playing to defend his title is Charl "The Assassin" Jonck
, the current South African Confederation of Cue Sport (SACCS) champion and 2012's SA 8Ball champion. Yulan "Hawkeye" Govender
is a four-time South African Blackball men's champion, considered to be South Africa's most accomplished pool player. He is a multiple Protea player, playing internationally for Team South Africa. Paul "The Gentleman" Bennett
is Cape Town's most accomplished player. The current number-1 seed in the country, Paul is also a multiple Protea player.
Gauteng's most consistent player over the last three years is Sbu "Chillies" Gumede
. He is currently ranked first in the province, and is a multiple Protea player. Yazeed "Ace" Sallie
is a Protea player and one of the most feared Cape Town players for many a year.
Protea player Vish "The Dish" Jagdev
is a previous U/23 South African champion. Juanaine "Slicky J" Nicholas
is a multiple Protea player, and twice South African champion. Sandile "Big Dogg" Madlala
is a three-time Gauteng champion and Protea player. Nickie "Fearless" Erasmus
is a former U/18 and U/23 South African champion, winning both titles in the same year.
And finally there's Kyle "Viper" Akaloo
, the U/23 South African champion for 2012.
There will be 10 matches in total; nine matches will be in the final showdown knockout event, followed by a promotion/relegation match where the third-last player in the Premier League will be fighting to stay in the big leagues, holding off the third-ranking challenger from the First Division.
