Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow

Showtime at the Rand Show means a world of smoking-hot family entertainment... except in Hall 8 that is. There, the entertainment is going to be cold... ice cold! Because this year, it's snow Time at the Rand Show.
For eleven days, Rand Show visitors will be able to experience the excitement of the ski slopes, as South Africa's biggest consumer show brings winter early to the Highveld.

From 10am to 5pm daily, Africa's premier snow-making company, Snow Productions, will turn Hall 8 into a snowy playground.

There's going to be the longest solid-ice toboggan slide ever built in Africa. At 50 metres long, it's guaranteed to be an extreme, adrenalin-fuelled ride, full of short, sharp turns and high speed.

There will also be a six-metre-high snow ramp, covered in 20 centimetres of real snow. Grab a snowtube or snowboard and you've got 35 metres of sliding fun. If you're not sure how to do it, you can pick up some pointers from the pros, who'll be giving impromptu snowboarding demonstrations throughout the day.

There's more slipping and sliding to be had on the 200 m² synthetic skating rink, or head for the large snow play area, where the whole family can get to work building a snowman, and then toss snowballs in the snowball alley.

And after all that, there'll be just enough time left for a rather unique photo opportunity... climb inside a giant snow globe, three metres in diameter, and be the star of your own winter wonderland.

Snow Time runs the duration of the Rand Show 2014, from Friday 18 April to Monday 28 April, and entrance is included in the price of the Rand Show ticket.
