Over the past decade and more, multi-award winning songstress, Judith Sephuma, has crafted an instantly recognisable sound that has earned her a devoted following. From her very first record she has been driven by the desire to inspire and uplift as far as her voice can reach and the South African songbird will ensure she carries on this wish as she takes to the stage on Saturday, 1 March 2014.
Taking place at the Liquifruit Amphitheatre in Paarl, as the third event of the inaugural Summer Jazz Series presented by Lion of Africa, Sephuma will share her signature vocal fusion of jazz and afro-pop with the assembled crowd - young and old. From, A cry, a smile, a dance, to New Beginnings, Judith Sephuma is Living Testimony that true talent stands the test of time and becomes a legacy.
Supporting Sephuma, is a group from the Cape Music Institute- headed by Camillo Lombard, a participant in the CTIJF's Arts & Culture Focus Schools workshops. The group will include 19 year old jazz vocalist Zolani Bongo who has performed at a number of events including the 2013 Youth Jazz Festival. MC for the event is the ever popular and multi-genre DJ Azuhl (aka Ricardo Nunes) whose Hip Hop bounce will get the party happening.
The Summer Jazz Series is already attracting a loyal following and last week concert goers were even treated to a surprise marriage proposal to the accompaniment of Jimmy Nevis. With Summer very clearly still in the air, tickets sell out fast. At a cost between R100 - R200, this is affordable world class entertainment that the entire family can appreciate and no-one should miss. www.computicket.com
