Issued by: woman360

Mapula Nkosi (formerly Sibanda), City Press' features editor has just been appointed as True Love's deputy editor. Nkosi brings with her a bevy of news, political and lifestyle media experience having worked extensively across these beats.

Nkosi's career in journalism, which was started through a cadet training programme with the then Weekly Mail (Mail and Guardian) newspaper, has included working for the then Ebony South Africa magazine. During her stay at City Press newspaper she covered beats ranging from crime, gender rights, HIV and Aids, parliament, arts and culture, lifestyle and general current affairs and held various editorial management positions including Women's Editor, News Editor, Lifestyle Editor, Arts and Culture Editor and Features Editor.

Over the decade and a half of her career Nkosi has worked extensively in the human rights, gender rights and HIV/Aids arenas, giving her a strong knowledge base and platform to deal with real life issues that affect thousands of True Love readers.

“It is an absolute privilege to be part of True Love, South Africa's leading magazine brand for women in this country.” said Nkosi. “The vision of the magazine to cater for all the needs of an increasingly sophisticated magazine consumer is a challenge I know True Love embraces with passion by producing excellent content that not only seeks to inform and entertain the reader, but affirms her total state of being,” she added.

Nkosi will work closely with True Love editor Dorah Sitole and the rest of the editorial team. “We are thrilled to have a journalist of Mapula's calibre joining our team. She is bringing to the True Love table a wonderful mix of news and lifestyle experience - all of which is just going to add to the value of the magazine for our readers," says Sitole.

Nkosi appointment began on the 1 May 2008 and although she has hit the ground running, her first working issue in which she's been involved from start to finish will be September, the Proudly South African edition.

In closing, Nkosi had this to say about her appointment: “The pages of True Love are like a wise mentor and best friend that any woman should have, and I look forward to connecting and growing with the reader as part of True Love's amazing team.”
