PRETORIA: Bafana Bafana's "Road to Brazil" campaign resumes next month when Gordon Igesund's side hosts the Central Africa Republic in a crucial Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifying match.
The match is scheduled for Saturday, 23 March at the magnificent Cape Town Stadium and kick-off is at 8.15pm.

Bafana are drawn in Group A with Ethiopia, who is leading the group with four points, Central Africa Republic with 3 points, South Africa with 2 points and Botswana with one point.

This will be South Africa's third match in the campaign following two draws against Ethiopia and Botswana last year.

Bafana Bafana returns to the Mother City where they played an international friendly match against Norway earlier this year. The match was played before one of the biggest crowds ever to witness Bafana in this splendid coastal city.

City of Cape Town executive director, Anton Groenewald, said: "As usual, the City of Cape Town is proud to host our boys as part of our unwavering commitment and support for the national team.

"We want to take this opportunity to congratulate them for a job well done in the recently-ended Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament."

Groenewald said the determination Bafana showed in the Afcon tournament confirmed that the future as bright for the national team and that they were heading in the right direction.

"This important encounter against the Central Africa Republic is part of our continued support for Bafana. We once again expect a huge crowd like we saw in January," he said.

South African Football Association (Safa) President Kirsten Nematandani said he was confident Bafana Bafana would do well in the campaign to qualify for Brazil 2014.

"This by no way means we are disrespecting our opponents. We did not start our campaign well, but at the same time it must be noted that we haven't lost a match, which is a positive sign

"Now we need to continue from where we left off in the Afcon tournament and carry the momentum into the qualifiers.

"We return to Cape Town where we always enjoy great support, and we urge the people of the Mother City and surrounding areas to do it again and rally behind our boys," he said.

When Vince Lombardi took over the Green Bay Packers, he was asked if he was going to change the players, the plays. The training or other key aspects of the team. He replied, I`m not going to change anything; we are simply going to become brilliant on the basics”
The Green Bay Packers had been doing poorly for some years. In his first meeting with the team, he famously picked up a football and said “Gentlemen, this is a football”.

From then on Lombardi concentrated on the basics, running drills aimed at making his team faster and more effective at executing plays than any other team. He took the Green Bay Packers to two super Bowl Championship and made the football coaching history.

Consistent with Lombardi method, the key to leading and succeeding in times of crisis and rapid change is to become ‘brilliant on the basics” The only obstacle that stand between our national team Bafana Bafana and the success of winning the titles are the mastery in basics…

Our coach`s ability to go over and around this problem (basics) is central to the success or to become champions as a national team…..This is what needs to be worked on as we are on journey to BRAZIL.
