Umi Restaurant opens whisky bar

Brand new and unique to Camps Bay's cosmopolitan strip of restaurants, hotels and bars is a singular experience: an exclusive Whisky Bar located inside Umi Restaurant.
Umi Restaurant opens whisky bar

Open in early October 2014, it will seat 40 guests in luxuriant comfort and style. Designed by Paul Kovensky, managing director of the renowned Kove Collection, it features rich purple velvet floor-length drapes, purple downlighters suspended from the ceiling on elegant rods, and plush, deep, comfortable seating.

The sensationally well-stocked bar offers over 100 varieties of judiciously selected whisky from around the world.

Each whisky featured on the menu comes with a Jim Murray rating and details the region of origin. Murray is the author of the annual Whisky Bible and it is believed that he has visited more whisky distilleries globally than any living person.

The Kove Collection's Whisky Bar is located in an atmospheric alcove at the rear of Umi restaurant, which is highly sought after for its cutting-edge modern Japanese cuisine. The Whisky Bar offers an intimate yet welcoming night-time experience and is open seven nights a week.

An undoubtedly novel experience in Camps Bay, the Whisky Bar joins the Kove Collection's stellar line-up of restaurants and hotels. These are: the five-star Alphen Boutique Hotel in Constantia and The Marly, a five-star, beach-front hotel in Camps Bay. Kove Collection restaurants in Camps Bay are Paranga, Zenzero, Umi and la Belle Bistro & Bakery, all foodie favourites in their own right, with a varied range of culinary offerings. The Bungalow is distinctive in that it is the only dining experience in exclusive Clifton, and Pepenero holds prime position overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in Mouille Point.
