IOL News reports that the KwaZulu-Natal Education Department has suspended two of its senior officials suspected of being involved in fraud and corruption related to the R1,1-billion fund for feeding school children.
An internal investigation into the fund claims that teachers and officials, acting as "suppliers" create monopolies for themselves by bribing school employees to award them the tenders. More officials and teachers are likely to be suspended in the coming weeks as the investigations continue to unearth corruption at schools says IOL News.
