The recognition acknowledges Ellies Renewable Energy's commitment to ensuring sustainable energy solutions to individuals and businesses. Such innovative offerings not only lessen the burden of expensive energy resources in a tough economy, but also offer a more environmentally sustainable solution for South Africans.

Both awards recognise the work that Ellies Renewable Energy has done with Eskom through its Project Power Save campaign. Ellies Renewable Energy installed free energy-efficient products into homes with the initial aim of reducing 45MW off the national power grid by the end of March 2012. Upon completion of phase one, the project had freed up 170.5MW off the grid.

Innovative and effective

The project was lauded for its innovative and effective means to reducing energy resources through implementing energy management, renewable energy installations, energy efficiency, installing energy-saving devices, optimising processes, implementing standards, expanded access to power, and an innovative means of conservation.

The recognition Ellies received at the SAEE was a direct result of its positive contribution to the growth of the energy-efficiency industry through the delivery of its services, products, technologies, solutions or consultation provided to end-users of energy resources.
