The same number are confident that their organisations' expansion efforts will succeed.

The survey shows that SA chief financial officers (CFOs) are the most optimistic among their global peers about their companies' prospects for international expansion.

BDO‚ an international auditing‚ tax and business advisory network‚ conducted the survey among 1‚050 CFOs in 14 countries across North America‚ Europe‚ the Middle East‚ Asia Pacific‚ Latin America and Africa. The aim was to assess global investment opportunities in the eyes of CFOs of mid-sized companies.

"It appears that the enthusiasm among South Africans for expansion is due to their focus on Africa‚" said Russell Fox‚ director of marketing and business Development at BDO SA.

"South African CFOs are concentrating on Africa‚ with particular focus on Nigeria‚ Kenya and Angola‚" he said.
