Spur sells food worth R5.5bn in a year

Restaurant group Spur Corporation increased total restaurant sales by 13.5% to R5.5bn in the year to end June‚ the group said in a sales update on Monday.

Sales from existing restaurants increased by 9.8%. Restaurant sales in South Africa grew by 12.7%.

Sales in the international operations were 20.2% higher in rand terms‚ bolstered by the depreciation of the rand during the year. Based on a constant exchange rate‚ international sales increased by 6.6%.

Spur Steak Ranches in South Africa increased sales by 11.3%. Turnover from existing restaurants was up 9.8%.

Panarottis Pizza Pasta grew restaurant sales by 28.2% in South Africa. Turnover from existing restaurants increased by 15.2%.

Annual results for the year ended June will be released on 11 September
