Celebrities line up for charity auctions on bidorbuy

Art (and good food) lovers will pull all stops for the privilege of tasting a cooking masterpiece by one of the top SA artists, Cornelius Bosch. Many bidders will want to take that internationally acclaimed politician, Evita, to an “erections and elections” lunch filled with casual chat about the Clintons, the Obamas and our own President Zuma - though some will prefer to get all the secret information on Evita herself from Pieter Dirk Uys. The bidder who emerges victorious in the battle for spending time in the company of the style icon and top SA socialite Edith Venter is sure to become privy to some delightful high society gossip.

And those who value good notes above everything else will put forward the highest bid in order to hear the angelic voice of the of Freshlyground lead singer Zolani Mahola in person, or to rub shoulders with Steve Hofmeyr backstage.

The participating charities include IkamvaYouth, an organisation whose aim is to provide disadvantaged secondary school learners with skills; Matla a Bana, an organization dedicated to erasing child abuse; The Trust, an organisation that makes it easy for individuals and businesses to contribute to charities throughout South Africa and other African countries; South African Anxiety and Depression Group, Africa's largest mental health support and advocacy group. Andy Higgins, director of bidorbuy, says many more charities are interested in participating, which means that the list of celebrities is set to increase. Together with the bidders, they will all be working for the common goal of helping those who need help the most.
