Cannes Cyber Lions entry system opens 1 February 2007

The Cannes Lions Festival in Cannes, France, showcases the world's best advertisements in film, press, outdoor, radio, interactive, direct marketing and sales promotion.

Habari Media have been attending the Cyber Lion interactive advertising showcase for three years, allowing them to witness first hand the global benchmark for interactive advertising. Adrian Hewlett, MD of Habari Media, would like to encourage South African design agencies to enter their online creative executions. "In the past few years I have seen some incredible interactive advertising coming from local agencies. I truly believe that the quality and creative thinking that is emerging from South African agencies rivals that of international standards, and I would encourage local agencies to submit their work."

The Cyber Lion category at Cannes, which is sponsored by MSN, has in the past seen entrants and winners representing a vast rage of categories from fashion to grooming to charities. Last year saw the United Sates walking away with the two Grand Prix Cyber Lions, but there was a strong presence from countries such as Brazil, Germany, Spain and Puerto Rico.

Online advertising is at an exciting stage in South Africa, there is increased investment, resulting in a drive for effective and clever creative executions. The calibre of South African online campaigns which result in a call to action is excellent, and we should be represented at a global showcase like Cannes.
