In a first for a South African-based artist, J's debut album, 'Closure' is being released on a USB Flash Drive.

The move comes through a partnership led by Prezence, South Africa's leading new-media company, J's record label, Just Music and Kingmax, leaders in flash storage products. Together they have developed a product that delivers the critically acclaimed album to consumers in an exciting and innovative way.
Using Kingmax's Super Stick Series, the world's smallest memory stick (weighing under three grams), J's full album is being made available to music consumers along with four ringtones, PC wallpapers, a gallery of J photographs and an exclusive acoustic version of 'Down Again'. All tracks on the memory stick are in high bitrate MP3 format.
'Down Again' is the first single off 'Closure', which is currently earning significant airplay as well as chart positions on both 5fm and 94.7 Highveld Stereo for J - a 24-year-old singer, songwriter and musician who is being tipped to be 2007's hottest property.
Says Karl Anderson, of Just Music, "In conjunction with the guys at Prezence and Kingmax, Just Music is really proud to release J's debut album 'Closure' on the world's smallest USB Flash Drive. The USB Flash Drive version of the album will also feature some exclusive content such as wallpapers, screensavers and ringtones making it a great value for J's fans."
The USB memory stick version of 'Closure' will retail for around R149.00 making it excellent value-for-money, given all the extras on the product as well as the fact that the 128mb USB memory stick can also be re-used for storing data. The stick plugs into a USB port on user's PC or stereo.
The 'J-stick' is retailed in a see-through tube that contains the memory stick, an album sleeve, as well as a lanyard that turns the J-stick into a stylish accessory. Future releases will see the sticks being available in tubes and traditional CD cases.
The SA memory stick release was pipped at the post by UK group Keane which released the single 'Nothing In My Way' in this format last month.
Says Tim Bishop, MD of Prezence, "We see the release of the J album as just the start of delivering music and content to South African consumers in this innovative and very exciting format. We are able to load a great deal of exciting content on the memory stick, along with the album - in this case photographs, wallpapers, ringtones and an exclusive song version but going forward we can load up videos, tasters of new products and much more. It just makes the experience of an artist's creativity that much more fuller and fun. Look out for big new music releases in the very near future as well as innovative business promo and presentation products."
