New year, new attitude, new challenges
Issued by: theWorksquad
Are we entering 2009 with mixed feelings, based not only from a local perspective but also from international activities? If so, none of us have the power, in our personal capacities, to drastically change much but if we each give it our best shot, surely we can make the year as enjoyable and rewarding as feasibly possible?
So, in reality, there is a lot of ‘new': a new year with new challenges, with new expectations, with new adjustments from, not only, a business point of view but also new changes to your personal life. Doesn't the word ‘new' generally give you a positive feeling? Last year was a challenging year which, by the end of its 12 months reign (of surprises?), left a lot of people feeling tired, anxious, confused, worried, stressed, and apprehensive, etc.
Let us keep those feelings at bay: we know it is not easy, but if we have the right attitude can we not have the right feelings about each day that dawns? Bette Midler said something about looking at things from a distance. Let us take one day at a time: the elephant is big, let us eat it slowly... and savour it as we munch languidly, instead of trying to handle the year in one mouthful.
To quote our Minister of Finance, Trevor Manual: “I think that whilst the negatives always stand out, there is actually a fair amount that is positive and we must celebrate that too.”
The economy may force changes in the workplace: whether it be looking to recruit that specialist employee, or having to find a new career. Either way theWorksquad looks forward to being able to strengthen our relationships with current clients and candidates, and to embrace new business and contacts.
We extend good wishes to all for a stable, successful and safe 2009!
