"Every day I get up and look through the Forbes list of the richest people in America. If I'm not there, I go to work." ~ Robert Orben. I suspect that if you are reading this newsletter, you, too, like Robert Orben, have to go to work every day, so check out our 2009 salary survey.
Please note that these are CTC salaries of actual placements made over the past year and vary considerably from company to company. Please use these purely as a guideline.
We have taken part in the Advantage Salary Survey 2009. This will appear in the January 2009 issue. These figures may differ from ours.

Why no separate Media Section. Media salaries listed below traffic ???? Important hey!!!-
Why no separate section for Media Salaries? Media Talent has long since left the Ad Agency - so why then list media salaries below traffic - we can see how much you value media strategy! Posted on 13 Jan 2009 14:35
Many ad agencies still handle their own media, hence us including the media survey under advertising. This is by no means making it less important by not giving media its own category. The results are still the same no matter where they are positioned within the survey. Posted on 13 Jan 2009 15:42
THIS IS VERY DISCOURAGING.i'M ON MY 3RD YEAR IN MULTIMEDIA STUDIES...MULTIMEDIA IS SUCH A COSTLY AND EXPENSIVE COURSE BUT SEEING THAT @ THE END OF DAY I'LL BE EARNING THAT MUCH..THEN I THINK I SHOULD JUST DROP EVERYTHING NOW... Posted on 15 Jan 2009 12:19
Why didn't you check the earning potential of your chosen field? You can't blame anyone but yourself. Besides, if you're any good, you'll be in demand and get paid over the odds. Posted on 15 Jan 2009 21:03
If you're getting into your chosen career because of the money, stop now. Do what you do because you love it and it makes you happy, not because it gives you a fat salary at the end of the day. If you're only in it for the paycheck, you'll never be truly good at what you do. Work your passion, and if you become a millionaire, bonus. If not, at least you'll gain some fulfillment by following your dreams and not your wallet. Posted on 16 Jan 2009 12:36
Yes, thanks for the constant and regular availability of this survey. I can't represent the ad industry, but I can speak for those of us slaving away in publishing. I write this as a so-called heavy-weight chief sub in CT. There is no way that I earned that, and am very glad that I have left the formal sector last year to go it alone as a freelancer. I would have stuck it out for longer if I had been earning within the upper end of the salary range, but, after two decades, I decided enough working my butt off to line the pockets of a few others. Bitter? No. Just a bit sad. Posted on 26 Jan 2009 15:08
WELL I AM DOING WHAT I LOVE, I'M GOOD @ WAT EK DOEN...SO I DON'T NEED TO GET EMPLOYED IN ORDER TO LIVE..I WILL OPEN AND MARKET UP MY OWN COMPANY..EVEN THOUGH THAT'S GOING TO BE HARD..BUT AFTER I GRADUATE I NEED TO GET A JOB FIRST..SO I CAN MAKE A LIVING....I AM NOT GOING TO QUIT..I LOVE ART!! The Salaries for Strategic Planners are abominable to say the least. If a strategy is sound and is workable how can the brains behind them be so underpaid ? Unless they are just serving up the ho hum usual brand positioning without any Product Knowledge and how to communicate across all media including web & mobile which is accessed by millions compared to traditional media and is measurable...oh sorry that's the MEDIA planners job - to me they are one and the same thing ! So combine Strategy with Communication Strategy and get paid more! all these self serving compartments - it's no wonder ad agencies cannot deliver 360 degree solutions. Strategy is after all Conversation * Posted on 18 Dec 2009 14:06
