Retrenchment time or silly season or both?

Issued by: theWorksquad
Bet you we are all asking ourselves the same thing: “Gosh, is it that time of the year (again), albeit a little earlier than before?” But it seems harder to digest with the state of our surroundings - politically, financially and (always in SA) emotionally - where there seems to be other not-so-nice-things happening - mainly staff restructuring and/or retrenchments (call it what you will, but, all said and done, headcount reduction).
And whether you see yourself as the ‘victimiser' or the victim, there is help at hand.

Retrenchers: if you are going through a staff restructuring and you would care to offer retrenchment assistance, you may want to consider providing 1-on-1 career planning sessions, CV Makeover assistance and/or interview grooming. This eases the process for the company and the staff member.

Retrenchees: if you find yourself in the employment market - unexpectedly - the same assistance is available. It is so important not to absorb this hurdle in life as much as a negative process as it appears to be.

Take control! Be proactive! Get ready to perform on the employment stage: get that CV out. It is time to relaunch yourself. Does the CV sell you with sizzle? Is it updated? Does it have the same beat as the drum of the potential future employer?

Are you in touch with you and what your brand's profile is, etc? We are always so busy doing life that we often pay less attention to our own personal needs - more often than not, career requirements. So this (temporary) unemployed status is time to take a pit stop: stop, reflect, analyse, re-profile and relaunch. Highly likely that you need to get yourself a Career Chat to kick-start the process!

If you are to sell yourself correctly, professionally and in the quickest way possible, best you be ready for job hunting. You are probably rusty in this arena. The more prepared you are, the sooner you will be seen and selected!

Part of the job hunt is to register with the right recruitment consultancy. If it is marketing (or related) positions you need to consider, be with a recruiter who works in that arena.

Give theWorksquad a call to find out about that kick-start Career Chat or register online at www.theworksquad.co.za. You can also job hunt on this website.
