Take the apple of your eye to work

Appletiser comes to the party for Take a Girl Child to Work Day.

Take a Girl Child to Work Day is a Cell C workplace exposure initiative, which provides young South African girls with the opportunity to gain a glimpse into the corporate world and learn about possible career paths. It is an annual event, which took place this year on 29 May 2008. This year Appletiser donated 10 cases of product, which will be used at an event hosted by the Nedbank Women's Forum.

The Nedbank Women's Forum has been involved in the Take a Girl Child to Work Initiative for the past six years. This year, a half-day workshop will be held at the bank's head office in Sandton for girls from St Mary's Outreach schools, learners from various schools in Soweto, St Vincent School for the deaf, Westbury High School, Hope School for the Physically Disabled and children of 30 of the bank's staff. The girls will hear talks by various South African role models around the theme of the day, which is Choice empowers. The 2008 Budget Speech winner, Linda Dingswayo, will be one of the role models interacting with the girls on the day as well, sharing career and financial tips.

“When Appletiser was approached to sponsor product for the goodie bags for this event, we gladly accepted,” says SA brand manager, Gwen Ridsdale. The brand is marketed at the modern, independent female, an empowered woman who has the knowledge and confidence to make a success of her life on all levels. “To this end, we believe the Take a Girl Child to Work campaign is a fantastic initiative and one which we fully support,” she concludes.
