Picture Tree goes double for summer

Issued by: Picture Tree | 19 Nov 2012 10:54
Commercials production company, Picture Tree, has kicked summer off with the new TVC for Vodacom and their "If it's nice, you get it twice. Double your summer" campaign. Featuring almost all of South Africa's best-loved twin celebs, it plays on the notion of having double of everything. At the heart of this story is an Indian family who really do have two of everything (including their twin boys who marry twins in a double wedding).
The team pulled the commercial together on a very tight deadline and after a rigorous four-way pitching process that saw director Alan Irvin along with producers Darren Gordon and Gary King from Picture Tree recognised as the right men for the job.

"What an amazing way to end off the year. The job required us to pull out all the stops to make things happen," comments Alan Irvin, Director at Picture Tree.

Alan's strengths as a director lie in the fantastic performances he draws out of the cast and this job was no exception. The treatment focused not only on the obsession of the lead lady's love for doubles, but also the rich textures and nuances that the South African Indian community have to offer.

The commercial was shot on 35mm and features the famous 'Gangnam Style' as its soundtrack. The agency responsible for the concept was Draft FCB. The creative team was headed up by Brett Morris and Theo Ferreira, along with Napoleon Masinga and Innocent Mukheli. The agency producer was Vanessa Borthwick.
