In little more than a year Garon Campbell has rocketed to an exciting start in his career as a commercials director with Propeller Films. Apart from the accolades of winning numerous awards for his honours year film school commercial, (including a bronze student Loerie Award and Cannes YDA finalist) Campbell has leapt into the industry directing numerous commercials with Propeller Films for the South African and West African markets.
With decades of commercials experience behind him, director Russell Underhill has mentored Campbell and helped him grow into a director who confidently embraces visually challenging projects and who also shows a natural affinity for performance work.
Says Underhill, "Garon started out as an assistant director with Propeller Films whilst still at film school. His talent soon became apparent when we viewed his honours year charity commercial and we offered to represent him for commercials. It has been a great joy watching this talent develop into a highly skilled director who is such a pleasure to work with."
The many projects Campbell has helmed include visually inspiring work for Sprite. Sprite "grenade" has been screened throughout Africa and has helped elevate the "street credentials" of the brand in West Africa.
Campbell was also called upon to direct four humorous viral commercials for Builders Warehouse. These virals featured on SABC's "Maggs on Media" as "highly innovative" and were also finalists on Bestads.
More recently Garon has directed work for Gulder Beer's popular reality show "Gulder Ultimate Search" as well as promo's for Wits University and a series of anti-malarial TVC's for Sunmap. He is also about to travel to West Africa to film three vibrant commercials promoting the Oyo State in West Africa.
Gifted and professional, Campbell is a flyer to watch out for! Gulder Beer "The Makings"
