Interviewed by CNN's Isha Sesay for African Voices, Mahen Bonetti, Executive Director of the New York African Film Festival listed South African film Forgiveness (director Ian Gabriel, 2004) among the program's selection of the 10 Best African Films, citing the selection as, "Films that begin to tell our stories in our own words and belong in the annals of international cinema ... adding a distinct African flavour to modern and universal themes. The films are 'classics and audience favourites that connect us with our past'."

Forgiveness was produced by Giant Films and dv8 and made with the assistance of the NFVF. It is distributed internationally by Fortissimo Films.
