The team at Audio Arts Africa has been training relentlessly for the 2010 FIFA World Cup. In working towards our goal of being fighting fit for the international invasion, we sent striker Hans Baumgarten to the NAB Convention in Las Vegas, Nevada USA, to brush up his skills.
Audio Arts Africa was the only South African recording facility represented at the workshops at the convention. Hans attended weeklong seminars on Dolby 5.1 surround audio to learn valuable information from the American team who are already in transition from Standard Definition (SD) to High Definition (HD). The Americans have to be fully HD compliant by early 2009. After attending these sessions, Audio Arts Africa has the most up-to-date information in South Africa with regards to 5.1 audio broadcasts.
HD broadcasts have not hit South Africa yet, but it is imminent with the launch of Multichoice's HD decoder scheduled for August this year to accommodate the Beijing Olympic broadcasts.
Audio Arts Africa is geared to transform your Standard Def audio to Dolby 5.1, as well as sound designing your full surround audio from scratch. We've already recorded and mixed a full-feature movie in Dolby 5.1 surround, as well as numerous cinema commercials for the Nigerian market and more recently an Audio Visual presentation for Internet Solutions.
Audio Arts Africa has two studios equipped with surround mixing capabilities. We're able to record, mix and encode to AC3.
