“We are excited to kick off this year’s Magic in Motion Academy, which is dedicated to building exceptional skills for the local entertainment industry. Film and TV require practical experience and the Academy helps young graduates to understand our industry from the inside out,” says M-Net CEO, Yolisa Phahle.

The interns will receive hands-on training in producing, directing, cinematography, production commissioning, concept creation, script writing, sound, art direction, editing, post-production and more. The course is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation to produce employable professionals.

Under the guidance of academy director, Bobby Heaney and M-Net csi and skills development manager, Ashika Kirpal, 12 interns will learn from some of the country’s top producers while gaining far-reaching experience in the industry. The 12-month programme begins in May and is based in Johannesburg.

“M-Net aims to cultivate home-grown content and invest in African stories told by Africans. We’re doing this by investing in a pool of young talent of future producers, writers, directors and film-makers,” explained Phahle.

All applicants must have a three-year diploma or degree in film and TV or a related qualification, or be in their final year of study. Graduates should have completed their studies in 2015 with a minimum C-aggregate pass. For more information, click here.
