Petrol to hike by 3 cents

The retail price of all grades of petrol will go up by three cents a litre on Wednesday this week, the Department of Minerals and Energy said.

All grades of diesel will decrease by six cents a litre. Wholesale illuminating paraffin will go up 10 cents a litre and the national retail price for illuminating paraffin will increase by 13 cents, according to Southafrica.info.

A litre of 95 octane unleaded petrol will now cost R7,04 per litre inland and R6,80 a litre at the coast.

The Minerals and Energy Department said various economic factors since the end of September had affected the upcoming price adjustments.

"The average international product prices of petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin increased," said the department.

The average rand to dollar exchange rate also strengthened during this period.
