South African concert promoter Big Concerts
has launched the first entertainment website in the country to offer concert memorabilia to online purchasers, thereby making it possible for music fans to purchase show merchandise from anywhere in the country. The site was developed by leading South African enterprise-grade e-commerce development company, iGroup
, who was contracted to develop the merchandising e-commerce section of the site.
The Big Concerts site is the first rollout of the iGroup e-commerce and content platform, zeroPoint. Originally developed for clients in the international market, exponential growth and huge demand for similar world-class solutions in South Africa has led to zeroPoint being brought to South Africa to supply the South African and African online market.
"This technology was initially built for the United States, but a huge demand for this kind of technology in South Africa has emerged," said Marc Seymour, CEO of iGroup. Big Concerts, South Africa's premier live entertainment promoter, needed a website revamp that would be able to bring band merchandise to fans throughout South Africa, whether they had been to a concert or not.
The website has been a hit with users, with an astounding 900% increase in daily web traffic to the site since launching at the end of October.
