Big Concerts offers fan memorabilia online with launch of iGroup's zeroPoint e-commerce platform

South African concert promoter Big Concerts has launched the first entertainment website in the country to offer concert memorabilia to online purchasers, thereby making it possible for music fans to purchase show merchandise from anywhere in the country. The site was developed by leading South African enterprise-grade e-commerce development company, iGroup, who was contracted to develop the merchandising e-commerce section of the site.

The Big Concerts site is the first rollout of the iGroup e-commerce and content platform, zeroPoint. Originally developed for clients in the international market, exponential growth and huge demand for similar world-class solutions in South Africa has led to zeroPoint being brought to South Africa to supply the South African and African online market.

"This technology was initially built for the United States, but a huge demand for this kind of technology in South Africa has emerged," said Marc Seymour, CEO of iGroup. "Big Concerts is the flagship for the new zeroPoint platform in South Africa and we hope it will set the industry standard in website development locally."

"The zeroPoint platform was developed with 16 years' worth of e-commerce experience and wrapped in a layer of technology that supports online, mobile and tablet applications," explains Seymour. "zeroPoint marries best-of-breed technology with bank-grade levels of security to provide a comprehensive digital commerce suite."

Big Concerts, South Africa's premier live entertainment promoter, needed a website revamp that would be able to bring band merchandise to fans throughout South Africa, whether they had been to a concert or not.

The website has been a hit with users, with an astounding 900% increase in daily web traffic to the site since launching at the end of October.

"Consumers know what they want," said Seymour. "As web developers, we can say from experience that cleanliness of design, a seamless and secure checkout procedure and the ability to give fans what it is that they're looking for is of paramount importance.

"Users are increasingly looking to South African e-commerce sites to follow international trends, and companies that keep up with new industry standards are sure to reap the rewards."

Justin van Wyk, Chief Financial Officer at Big Concerts, responded to the launch of the website saying, "This exciting development in our online presence extends the fan experience in so many ways. Fans are now able to interact with us in a much more personal and direct manner. iGroup understood this need, and they clearly developed a very real solution."
