The Nedbank Local Heroes programme, understanding the love and compassion people share for their communities, are building on the success of last year's outstanding achievements. Last year 49 different charities benefited from this amazing initiative, and this year 120 charities will benefit from Local Heroes. Nedbank have more than doubled their investment in the programme.
Nedbank is calling on all South Africans, who are involved in community work to simply nominate the charity that they are involved with and volunteer it, for a donation from Nedbank. An iPod is also up for grabs when South Africans nominate their cause on Facebook.
Understanding the power of Facebook and its ability to reach in excess of one million South Africans daily, Popimedia Innovations was called in to apply its proprietary viral marketing system, PIActions, to spread the word about Nedbank's Local Heroes programme within the realms of the Social Network.
Facebook, with its 130 million users worldwide, one million of which are South African, has a significant advantage, which is far superior to most other forms of online marketing in that one is able to rapidly reach millions of like minded people, continuously communicate with them and build communities around a particular client's brand or product. This allows for trusted, credible referrals to be made, friend to friend.

The Popimedia Group houses two distinct companies; Popimedia (Pty) Ltd, which is the exclusive third party advertising partner to Tempest Car Hire, and its significant fleet of cars; and Popimedia Innovations (Pty) Ltd, which is the leading provider of social media marketing strategy, tools and services to the world's largest brands and agencies.- more....
Clearly you don't understand how social media or the internet works if you think that having a presence in a space means that you are exposed to all the viewers in that space.
It's kind of like say I have a banner on the internet which means it is exposed to over a billion people every day.
Toad is spot on, you have a group of 165. I would hazard a guess and say they comprise of friends, family, and Nedbank employees Posted on 2 Oct 2008 16:15
This initiative has been running for say 4 months. You have only gathered 165 members [29 less than my 13 year old nephew] and 5 comments. While your claim of 'REACHING 1 million users daily!' is patently ridiculous; what you are pointing out though is your penetration or conversion is only 0.0165% Oh dear! Posted on 2 Oct 2008 16:28
As far as I know Amorphous New Media started this page. It was their brainwave. I like the maintenance done on the page though. Posted on 3 Oct 2008 10:06
