Vusi Thembekwayo, world-renowned public speaker and new SA Dragon, is set to inspire at an upcoming ITWeb event
Vusi Thembekwayo, youngest director of a JSE-listed company
"The complexity of issues faced by business leaders today is immense," says Vusi Thembekwayo, keynote speaker at the upcoming ITWeb Cloud Computing 2014 event.
Which is why he's going to break them down, deliver a brand-new perspective and inspire 'light bulb' moments among top IT and business decision-makers at ITWeb Cloud Computing 2014 in Johannesburg in September.
Soon to be on local television screens as part of the South African version of Dragon's Den, Vus is the youngest director of a listed company, and serves on several boards. He ran a R400-million division in a R17-billion multinational company, where he achieved the highest EBITDA within the group, before moving into public speaking.
"There's never been a change curve as steep and as fast as the one leaders are being presented with now. To be successful, senior executives shouldn't be fighting the competition - they should be chasing the money. The next frontier belongs to those who are better at translating consumer insights into business intelligence," he notes.
During the past three years, he has spent time in over 13 African countries, including South Africa, gaining insights into how each does business. His 'Africa rising - stretching business boundaries and conquering the continent' presentation at the third annual ITWeb cloud computing event will align with the conference's theme of: 'Beyond forecast. Into business reality'. He'll explore the many opportunities the continent presents, covering its growth industries, cultural considerations for investment, the prevailing people and consumer cultures, and the strategies that have worked, as well as those that have failed dismally.
Delegates at the event will also be privy to the release of the first-ever CIO Cloud Perception Survey 2014, undertaken by TA Consulting in conjunction with ITWeb. The survey will investigate how CIOs perceive the cloud and what type of adoption (if any) they have done. It aims to explore the potential mismatch between CIO perceptions of the cloud, what it really is, and what vendors are offering as a cloud solution.
