NEWSWATCH: Let us count the woes: the SABC hasn't been able to meet Treasury's performance targets as part of the R1.47 billion loan guarantee conditions, even though it's halved its losses, writes Business Day and Times Live; Peter Kwele, 2010 project unit head, has been suspended for allegedly spending far too much money to rent 2010 FIFA World Cup studio space, reports Sowetan; the SABC board served charges against suspended CEO Solly Mokoetle earlier this week, writes Business Day; and deputy SABC board chair Felleng Sekha definitely resigned a few weeks ago, reports Times Live.

SABC rot-
Again and again the same non-sense at the SABC. Everyone now knows that, but for a few rare exceptions still left, the SABC is populated by incompete relatives, friends and girlfriends of pathetic individuals who regularly steal ideas and other property fron individuals and other tv channels, get drunk, use tribal and racist dogma to intimidate and move ahead, get consultants to cover up their lack of delivery, and use the corporation for personal gratification. And what do we, the people do? We let them get away, with a golden 'hand shakes'. How is this possible? Why is the SABC the dumping ground for stupidity and gangsterism? Production values are non-existent. Check out the News, Morning Live, Special Assigment, Focus, etc.
What is this? Why must we citizens be subjected to this crap? Why do we pay for ministers who continue to fail us with forced non-transparent appointments? Posted on 1 Oct 2010 21:13

BAD TREE=GOOD FRUIT?-
It is somewhat ironic that a bad tree can bear good fruit. The SABC is such a case and when the public, rightfully so, bash the corporation, it should always be born in mind that the good workers (a host have left) stuck in that unforgiving employment situation have no other option than to carry out "un/awful and un/reasonable instructions" in this grossly unequal employment situation. It is worse than serfdom and most workers there are simply winding down the retirement clock. The SABC has given up on the challenge to be the preferred employer and in that process has failed South African youth of a career choice in media by making it all look so unpleasurable. True that there are stresses like in reporting on the worst of human misbehaviour such as crime and so on but the working conditions within the SABC have no equal. Please spare a though for the traumatised staff stuck in there because they need the jobs, crappy as the situation may be. South Africans should rather call for changes in the management of the Corporation, from the Minister right down to the petty chiefs who prey on the dedicated good workers at the SABC.
