NEWSWATCH: It looks like a number of community TV stations around the country will be forced to shut down if the experience of Cape Town's CTV is anything to go by, reports IOL, which also reports that the head of the SABC's formal education unit has died, apparently as a result of a domestic dispute. On the 2010 front, it seems some of FIFA's conditions governing the media and their coverage of the event have not gone down well, reports Business Day.

IOL: City TV channel to be booted from airwaves… CTV could be the first of a number of community TV stations around the country to be forced off the air, apparently due to a lack of available frequencies.
IOL: SABC manager 'killed'… Paulette Tshiredo died, allegedly as a result of domestic violence, on the eve of the launch of 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children.
Business Day: Media in uproar over FIFA's terms… Local media and FIFA are said to be in a standoff over what the former reckon are onerous terms and conditions governing media coverage of the event.
I find the manner in which the article reports on the sabc manager's death a bit crass. Perhaps its just me but could it not have been done in a more respectful manner? Posted on 2 Dec 2009 13:19
