The first Mega Media Expo was successfully staged at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on 7 and 8 May. Visitors were impressed with the first Mega Media and more than 2,000 people attended this trade show. Both visitor and exhibitor gave very positive feedback.

CADEK Media (the owners of the event) identified a niche market and created a platform where media owners can showcase their products and services to prospective advertisers and buyers. “Our vision is to be THE showcase and meeting place for Africa's advertising and media industry,” says organiser, Chris de Klerk.

The expo included exhibits on traditional media (magazines, printing, advertising and brand agencies) as well as new exciting mediums such as mobile billboards, digital media, cellular technology and tools to reach online communities. The magazine lounge was a hit where publishers gave out rate sheets and sample copies of their publications. More than 60,000 copies were distributed in this lounge.

Exhibitors included the likes of of BizCommunity.com, Fin24, Touchline Media, Monitoring SA, Tide Media, Brainstorm, Multi Media Solutions, Pled, Zereba Drive, Creda Communications, Evo Media and many others.

The introduction of workshops was a great idea. These were very well attended and speakers included Mike Abel, Jeremy Maggs, Chris Moerdyk, Thebe Ikalafeng and many others.

Jeremy Maggs gave his personal endorsement for the Expo at the Rooftop After Party (the R.A.P). This function was another highlight of the event and MC, Marc Lottering, made sure that all the VIP's were well entertained.
