NEWSWATCH:The Times this morning, Thursday, 16 August 2007, reports that the “Health Minister has demanded that the Sunday Times ‘come clean' about its involvement with missing medical documents taken from the hospital where she underwent surgery in 2005” and has made available for download the official statement by Medi-Clinic on the charge of theft (which has not been laid against any specific parties), the clinic's lawyer's letter to the newspaper and the newspaper's legal response.
Meanwhile, Business Day writes that “[a]ll eight nominated members of the existing SABC board have made it onto Parliament's short list for selection to a new board” but that “opposition party MPs on the committee are hopeful that all existing board members with the exception of Alison Gilwald will be excluded from the final list of 12 candidates, which has to be approved by President Thabo Mbeki.” For more, click here.
